Maranatha to Resume In-Person Worship Services beginning May 31, 2020

Many of us are eager to get back to Worship Services at Maranatha, but there may be some who should not yet attend.

Here’s some things to consider before deciding to attend:

  • Please do not attend if you or anyone in your household is not feeling well, particularly with any of the following symptoms: fever, chills, cough, sore throat, difficulty breathing, or recent loss of taste or smell.

  • Please do not attend if you have recently traveled outside the United States.

  • Please do not attend if you have recently been in contact with any person diagnosed with COVID-19.

  • If you or someone in your household is in a high risk category (ages 65 and older with chronic lung disease, serious heart conditions, diabetes or kidney disease) you may find it best to wait longer before coming back to worship at Maranatha.

Though we will miss having you here, we wish to support you by continuing to offer our Worship Services online. Join us live each Sunday morning on our YouTube Channel. There, you can find our live-streamed and archived services.

What should I expect if I attend Maranatha’s Worship Services during the pandemic?

We will again come together in corporate worship of the Triune God. In many respects, it will be a normal worship service, in which we invite congregational participation as we always have! A few things will seem a bit different as we take some precautionary measures during this coronavirus pandemic.

**July 24 UPDATE**

In accord with Governor Walz Executive Order 20-81:

“Beginning on Friday, July 24, 2020 at 11:59 p.m.,
Minnesotans must wear a face covering
in indoor businesses and indoor public settings.”

How each of us respond to this order will be a matter of individual conscience. Scripture calls for all of us to respect and pray for our governing authorities, and also to pray for wisdom as we live in this world. Perspectives on and responses to this order as it relates to a “House of Worship” will not be the same for all Christians. Please extend grace to those who may come to different conclusions than yourself, as we worship and fellowship together in these walls. Out of respect for possible physical vulnerabilities of others, please also give each other appropriate distance as you interact.

  • When you arrive, you will find the front door propped open or someone there to open it for you.

  • We will not have greeters shaking your hands in the entry, and for now we will discourage hand shaking in general. (This keeps anyone from ending up uncomfortably declining an outstretched hand.) Hand sanitizer will also be available in the entry.

  • Keeping in mind the "Minnesota Mask Mandate:" Masks will be welcomed but not mandatory. (Due to current shortages, Maranatha will not be able to supply you with a mask.)

  • As you enter the sanctuary you will find some pews taped off and others marked for seating. (As recommended, we will be aiming for 25% capacity and 6 foot spacing between households.) Please feel free to find your own spot to sit, within parameters of what is marked. Ushers will be glad to help you locate a seat if desired. There will be a few additional chairs set up in the fellowship hall to be used as needed or as preferred.

  • An usher will hand you a bulletin as you arrive. This will contain an order of service, the Scriptures, and songs for the day. (This information will also be projected on the screen.) The hymnbooks and Bibles have been temporarily removed from the pews.

  • No offering plates will be passed during the service. Instead you may leave your tithes and offerings in the box at the back of the sanctuary or contribute online.

  • After the service you will be dismissed by rows in order to keep from crowding together at the back of the sanctuary.

  • There will be coffee, water, and opportunity for fellowship outside in the courtyard (weather permitting). Feel free to visit and catch up with each other outdoors, giving adequate space to each other as you do so.

  • Restrooms will be available as needed
